The Area

OGRES covers all of the streets that link up with Onslow Gardens and Blenheim Gardens in Wallington, which is a part of the London Borough of Sutton. This is a residential area which is within walking distance of a main shopping area, and close to excellent public transport facilities.

The area is designated as an “Area of Special Local Character” by the London Borough of Sutton, but it is still important that we the residents work to protect our local environment. At OGRES, we wish to preserve the local character of the area and maintain and improve the area in which we live.

We received a grant from Sutton Council to help with a special newsletter to coincide with anniversary of the end of WW2. This was a project that we hope will be of interest to everyone in the OGRES area. Residents received our “special edition” newsletter containing a short history of our area to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of WW2.

The Wallington in WW2 Newsletter is here, and listen to local resident interview with Fred Hutt here.

Below are some old postcards of the area, if you have any items or stories that you would like to see included in our archive please contact us here
